Our History
JobTraQ started with a problem, not a product. Back in the early 2000s, our founder, Vaughn Thurman, was running a growing IT services company. As projects got more complex and audits became the norm, his team needed a better way to manage work. Something flexible, trackable, and secure. Stuck in an airport one day, Vaughn sketched out a metadata-driven concept for managing business processes, and that seed eventually grew into an internal tool called JobTraQ.
At first, JobTraQ was only used in-house. But when clients saw it in action, they wanted it too. Its secret sauce? Non-technical users could configure it themselves. That meant faster results without always waiting on developers. So Vaughn and his cofounder, Josh Yeager, began evolving JobTraQ into a full-fledged product, shaped by feedback from early adopters in industries like financial services, insurance, and government.
Soon, organizations like NASA and Beazley Insurance were putting JobTraQ to the test. High-volume projects for companies like Google and Time Life pushed the platform to scale quickly, handling millions of work items in real time. With every challenge, the platform matured; stronger auditing, smarter workflows, and a growing reputation for helping teams get serious work done without the complexity of traditional software.
That product eventually became HighGear, a robust enterprise platform trusted across highly regulated industries for large-scale workflow automation and digital transformation.
But we didn’t stop there.
As we worked with manufacturers across the country, we saw a gap. Many of these companies were struggling to manage complex, fast-moving processes using spreadsheets, paper, and email. They didn’t need every enterprise bell and whistle. They needed something streamlined, powerful, and easy to use, especially in a world where IT teams are stretched thin and development talent is hard to find.
So we brought the JobTraQ name back.
Today, JobTraQ is a focused, fast, and flexible version of the HighGear platform, built specifically for manufacturers. It empowers business users, production leads, operations managers, continuous improvement teams, and more to build and run their own workflows without code. And it gives IT teams the security and control they need to scale with confidence.
