JobTraQ accommodates this need for agility through the flexible creation of true custom fields. Drag and drop association of these fields with one or more of your custom task types makes those fields visible for the task types that need them and keeps them out of the way where you don’t. Custom fields can also be marked as “required” or “required before close” ensuring that you get the data you need along the way. Administrators can create any number of custom fields to store many different types of information. These fields can be added to any record type, can be used in any report, and can be displayed, searched, and sorted in the record lists, and each field can have unique permissions that prevent unauthorized access.

Custom fields can be added to various project or task forms, by a JobTraQ administrator, in rich two-dimensional layouts using intuitive drag and drop controls, easily emulating the paper forms or other system already in use – minimizing change and training.

When users or other systems make changes to any task or project, the workflow engine processes those changes against the configured business rules and executes the appropriate actions. These actions can change a task’s status, set data fields to predefined values, copy values from other records, dynamically calculate new values, reassign the task, or push it to another stage in a business process. Workflow actions can also create other tasks in parallel or as contained sub-items, and even create entire sub-projects. These actions and many more can be configured to run in parallel or serially, allowing you to match nearly any. Finally, all of this power is delivered with unparalleled simplicity and agility, with every change recorded so quick roll-backs are easy to accomplish.
